The first written references to gnocchi were found in 14th-century Italian cooking writings. The word, pronounced noki, means ‘lumps’ such as a knot in wood or a knuckle. In Roman times, gnocchi was made from porridge style dough mixed with eggs. These small dumplings or soft noodles are a comfort-type food for people all over the world!
Pinocchio’s Gnocchi dish is delicious and filling. Ingredients are fresh, and you can enjoy them baked with spicy Italian sausages or meatballs. The dish also comes with chicken served with pesto cream. No matter your selection, you’ll fall in love with gnocchi!
This Italian dish is known as manicotti in America and more commonly referred to as cannelloni in Italy. Manicotti roughly means ‘big sleeve’ where cannelloni translates to ‘big pipe.’ Both are pasta rolled into tubes and filled with delicious Italian filling!
Manicotti at Pinocchio’s is a delightful dish that can be prepared several different ways. Our manicotti is always stuffed with our tasty ricotta blend, spinach, and onion. For a traditional approach our chefs will prepare the dish with our signature marinara sauce topped with meatballs or sausage or both! If you feel like being creative we will pour a freshly sautéed alfredo sauce over the shells and add shrimp.
No list of recommended classic Italian dishes would be complete without ravioli! The name of these tasty parcels is derived from an Italian word that means ‘to wrap.’ The earliest mentions originated from 14th-century writings in Italy. Tomatoes weren’t introduced to Italy until the 16th century, and it wasn’t until then that ravioli was served with tomato sauce. Before that, ravioli was prepared and served in broth.
Our Pinocchio Ravioli is a treat for everyone! Our dish is served with a delicious fresh-made sun-dried tomato pesto cream and sliced chicken breast. We find that customers come back especially for this dish and leave, each time, feeling satisfied!
